Today was the (Dutch) queen’s birthday (Koninginnedag), which is a big day in Holland. There was even a special Google grapic. Lots of orange was in evidence, which seems to be the national colour, although the flag is red, white & blue.
Apart from the official celebrations, it also means that everyone can have a garage sale in the local town centre, or anywhere else. We went to the Zoetermeer market area where there were literally hundreds of stalls with people selling anything portable. The goods were dominated by kids selling off their often well-played-with toys, but there were any number of things we could have bought - if getting them home didn’t pose such a problem.PS: Even though the blog is supposed to be WYSIWYG, it's still necessary to edit the HTML to get the formatting right!
